The greatest challenge as an energy healer is that all the programming of our personalities and dualistic nature can assert itself at any time. When that happens, it takes all the training one has to step out of the way, to connect instead to The Great Mystery. It is why rigorous training is so important. It is also why rigorous spiritual growth to expand our consciousness, is also so key. Given that the dividing line is so fragile, it is why I will always be humble as an energy healer.

In The Wisdom Jesus, Cynthia Bourgeault writes so vividly about our being born into the “egoic operating system,” that it is even built into the human brain. We are taught the binary, dualistic way of thinking even on Sesame Street. And we are taught how Jesus’ teachings are truly about moving into the awareness of the heart, a non-binary “mind.” A teaching, and a guidepost, for us.

She quotes the Sufi Kabir Helminski to make the point further:

We have subtle subconscious faculties we are not using. Beyond the limited analytic intellect is a vast realm of mind that includes psychic and extrasensory abilities; intuition; wisdom; a sense of unity; aesthetic, qualitative and creative faculties; and image-forming symbolic capacities….. . They comprise a mind, moreover, in spontaneous connection with the cosmic mind, the total mind we call “heart.” — Kabir Helminski

Spread of the Mystery Schools

Her book is also illuminating in that she shows the difference in how Jesus’ teachings were interpreted as they spread East as compared to those that went West. To the East are the Mystery schools, and much about the raising of consciousness. The Essenes, who lived at the Dead Sea, and of which Jesus was part, were some of the greatest energy healer adepts.

I named my healer school “HeartMind Healer School,” as this is the goal for my students. This helps them move into the awareness of their hearts, and all the wisdom found there. (The school is a very eclectic, spiritually. While I focus on Jesus, above, it is in context of his consciousness and what he can teach us about “heartmind.” )

It is in the awareness of the heart that one finds the fertile ground from which to gather such deep insight about our clients. It is also where we step outside of ourselves, our egos, the distorted programming of our personalities.

My students know how hard I work to help them make this transition to the HeartMind. A circuit develops between one’s heart, the client, and their soul or the Creator. We, as our personalities, are bypassed.
